Gas Rough-in and Fit-off’s

Gas Rough-in

The term ‘rough in’ describes the installation of a building’s plumbing, Gas and electrical services in wall cavities, and under floor before the walls are lined with plasterboard and floors are laid. Its important that plumbing pipes are properly installed. The result of improper work on gas pipes and gas joints can have serious consequences such as unhealthy leaks and worst case even fires and or explosions.

Gas Fit-off

The fit-off is the usually final stage for your plumbing and gas service on your renovation or new build . This is when we install all of your gas appliance such as gas stove, oven, hot water system, and install fixtures such as gas Bayonet for a bbq point. the water heater, hooking up the fireplaces and other gas appliances. This is also the time that the gassfitter will test and commission your gas appliances.

Gas Appliance Installation
Gas appliance installation and replacement is critical work that must be done correctly to ensure the health and safety of your home or rental properties. The result of improper work on gas pipes, stoves, gas appliances, and gas joints can cause serious problems including unhealthy leaks and worst case even fires and/or explosions. Due to the health hazards that a gas leak may cause, Gas cookers, hot water systems, bbq gas points, Heaters should always be installed by a licensed gas fitter.

Gas compliance certification
Gasfitters must attach compliance plates for all installation work for Type A and B related gas work. The gas system compliance plate shows the history of a gas installation, as well as who undertook the work. JT’s Plumbing and Gas Fitting test and commission & provide certification for all new gas installations.

Gas Leaks
If You Suspect A Gas Leak:

  • Turn off the gas at your gas meter or cylinder.
  • Turn off all appliances, including your electrical appliances and pilot lights.​
  • Contact a licensed gas fitter to come and check out the problem.​
  • Open all of your doors and windows to help with ventilation, but only if it is safe to do so.​
  • Extinguish all naked flames if it’s safe to do so.​
  • Call JT’s Plumbing and Gas Fitting
